Our client is a full service law firm located in Coquitlam and the surrounding areas. They are looking for a litigation assistant to support their lawyers and paralegals in their personal injury and litigation practice. It is expected that the successful candidate will work in personal injury and as the firm transitions and closes those files, do more general litigation work. Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents from dictation, handwritten and precedent documents
- Maintain BF or tracking system for limitation and follow-up dates
- Communicate with clients on calls and general inquiries
- Speak with and correspond with the courts, opposing counsel and expert witnesses regarding scheduling of hearings, trials, examinations for discovery and other events
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, and review and file e-mail correspondence
- Time entry and bill preparation
- File maintenance, organization and other administrative tasks
- Open and close client files
Experience & Education:
- Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant Program or has other relevant administrative assistant experience
- No less than 2 years’ work experience in a litigation or related practice area
- Understanding of legal procedures and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Experience working with Court Services Online
- Prior knowledge of Amicus Attorney, PC Law and Primafact would be an asset.
The salary for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 and is dependent on skills and experience.
