Our client has provided legal services to the Lower Mainland of British Columbia for over 45 years and is looking to fill a permanent full-time bookkeeper/reception hybrid position they have open. The successful candidate will already have law firm experience with an understanding of trust accounting. This role will handle the day-to-day process of keeping full, accurate and up to date business records of the financial transactions of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a six line switchboard
- Assigning mail
- Day to day recording of all trust and general account transactions
- Preparing and posting of the Statements of Account (fee billings)
- Maintaining client’s trust ledger, accounts receivable sub-ledger and accounts payable accounts
- Bank Deposits
- Processing bills
- Periodic overview of file balances
- Daily preparation of trust cheques including, obtaining appropriate signatures
- Printing and distribution of cheques
- Filing
- Data entry and posting
- Processing monthly payables.
- All other necessary duties to ensure the department runs smoothly
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- 3+ years of law firm accounting experience
- Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficient in PCLaw
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication and strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $75,000, commensurate with experience.
