Hiring a Litigation LAA to work in Longstanding Local Law Firm

Our client, a mid-size law firm in downtown Vancouver, has, for over close to a hundred years, maintained its reputation as a firm which offers the highest quality of professional services. The values and standards set by earlier generations have remained but it is comprised of a dynamic group of lawyers and staff who practice law in a spirit of collegiality and openness.  They are seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant – Litigation to join their team located in their Vancouver office.

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling appearances and independent medical examinations
  • Scheduling mediations, discoveries and appointments
  • Attending to court filings
  • Organizing files, document binders and other file related materials
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Maintaining Bring Forward and Limitation systems
  • Preparing bills
  • General administration as needed

Key Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years’ experience working as a Legal Administrative Assistant in insurance defense
  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Administrative Assistant program

Key Skills:

  • Solid understanding of civil litigation procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly using discretion, tact and courtesy
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Word, Excel and other relevant programs
  • Excellent document drafting skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Client service orientation
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience in a legal environment strongly preferred
